This week in Maths 5.4 have been looking at probability and how mathematicians describe it on a probability line.

The class had to work with their 8 o'clock partners to finish 3 experiments. Their tools were a paper with a circle drawn on it, a paperclip to flick and a pencil to hold the paperclip to the paper. For experiment 1 they had to color in 1/2 of the circle with green. For experiment 2 they had to draw in 1/4 of the circle with green. For experiment 3 they had to color 3/4 of the circle with green. Before they started the experiment the groups had to predict how often the paper clip would land on green.
For each experiment we collected data in an organised way for 50 trials and plotted our data. We looked at our resultes for each experiment and reflected on
range - the difference between highest and lowest
mode - the value with the most plot of data is
ourleirs - data that is very high or low
median - the middle piece of data
